Utne Hotel
Utne hotel anno 1722 er Noregs eldste freda trehotell som kontinuerleg har vore i drift i 300 år. Det heile starta i 1722 som eit gjestgiveri med stove, kjøken, gang og eit soverom.
Å bu på Utne hotel er som å kome heim til bestemor med sine florlette blondegardiner og knirkande golv og senger. Her opplever du ein unik atmosfære, midt i hjartet av Hardangers kulturarv og naturopplevingar.
Utne hotel har vore eit av foregangshotellene for fast sidersmaking for gjestene sine, kvar kveld. I tillegg vil det alltid vera anbefalt sider til nokon av rettane servert til middag. Utne hotel er siderhotellet i Hardanger.
Modern cider history
Cider and fruit wine have a 200-year history in Norway, but it is not very well known. Two people who know a lot about this are Kasper Wrem Anderson and Bernt Bucher Johannessen. We asked them to write down some of this history which you can read here, divided into "modern" cider history and older cider history.

At the Skogheim farm at Aure, fruit trees have been planted since the 1940s. When Bjørn Torsetnes inherited the farm, he and his business partner June Vestavik saw the opportunity to develop a unique product based on the farm’s old traditions. Not long after the first tree was planted, "Fjordsider" was created.

When the days grow shorter and the yellow light shines on the hillside, the apples are ready for harvesting. On my farm, I have Gravenstein, Discovery and Aroma. These varieties are perfectly suited for cider, each bringing its own unique quality. When they are sweet enough, I pick them carefully and press them into apple juice.
