BRINGEBÆRLANDET

Bringebærlandet is half an hour's drive south of Oslo, in an open and lush agricultural area just outside Drøbak.

Here Åse-Marit and Roy grow raspberries; a total of six kilometers with hedges. Here in the sunny summers, the raspberries thrive. When the glaciers retreated 10,000 years ago, they left moraines of gravel and sand that make the area one of the most fertile in the country. The long days and cool nights give them a unique taste of sweetness and acidity - the taste of Norwegian summer.

Every year people come in droves to buy fresh berries from the farm. Right from the start in 2009, we have been keen to find new ways to use the berries. One of them was to add them to fermentation and make wine. This far north it is not possible to grow wine grapes, but raspberries proved to be an excellent alternative. We are proud that we were the first to discover the wine properties of raspberries.

The fresh taste combined with the red color makes our wines a unique experience. The first bottles of dessert wine were bottled in 2017, and since then we have expanded the range with a sparkling wine, made using the traditional method, an ice wine, an aromatized wine and a mead. In addition, we also make an alcohol-free raspberry drink. Vinification starts in the autumn after the crop is in the house and continues throughout the winter. Like champagne, the sparkling wine rests on yeast for many months before being racked, clarified and disgorged.

Our wines have won many awards and are served in exclusive restaurants, in tax free shops - and on Hurtigruten.
