FLID

FLID is made from apples from Heim and Aure, including a proportion of wild apples from the venerable, old wild apple tree at beautiful Valsøya.

The tree is now the mother of 30 small wild apple saplings that we have grafted and planted in our own apple orchard. The wild apples are very small, with a thick shell, a lot of bitterness, tannins, and high acidity. They have many of these characteristics in common with French and British cider apples. The wild apples bring a wild energy, a touch of ripe lemon, a shiny golden colour and extra tannins and acidity. This makes the cider vinous and suitable for rich foods.
