Sandalen Gård is Randaberg's first fruit farm. The farm started converting from its traditional production of grass to apple production in 2010, but it was only in 2014 that the farm started selling juice and jelly in their self-service farm shop. The special thing about Sandalen farm is that all its fruit is sold directly or via various local farm outlets; only cider and some varieties of juice are sold through wholesalers. This means that we can sell Class 1 fruit directly to the consumer. The apple varieties that dominate the farm are Rubinstep, Red Aroma, Discovery, Santana and Rubinola, but we also grow more esoteric varieties such as Ellis Bitter, Somerset Redstreak, Katja, Julka, Rosette, Freya, Wellant, Tohoku 2 and Asfari. The number of varieties is important to make products that taste a bit different.
