AGA SIDERI
Among the high mountains, in the heart of Hardanger, Aga Sideri is idyllically situated. In the ideal climate for fruit farming, the apple trees are groomed and looked after throughout the year. The apples are carefully picked and taken to the farm. There, we clean them before they are shredded, and every last drop of juice is squeezed out. We collect these precious drops, and with a little time, a little magic, and a little hard work, we end up with something truly amazing: Aga cider.
Joar Aga was born and raised in Hardanger. In 2018, he bought his childhood farm at Aga in Ullensvang. Focusing on apples was a natural choice, as cider has been produced in Hardanger for generations. He first participated in the cider competition during the Hardanger cider festival in 2017, where he won the amateur category. This inspired him to go all in, and in 2018, he won the professional category with his Lagmann cider. Its name comes from the closest neighbouring farm, Agatunet, which lies 50 metres from the cidery, with roots dating back to the Viking Age.
